Evaluation of bacteriological and chemical quality of drinking water used in chicken house in Libya

Water is a vital nutrient in poultry metabolism, which plays an important role digestion, absorption of food, transportation nutrients the body and elimination waste products via urine. The objective this study was to investigate physical, chemical bacteriological parameters water samples were collected from 35 broiler farms distributed four districts (Qasar Bin Gheshir, Wadiarrabee, Zawia, Zahra). In each farm, source, tank inside chicken house end pipes. subjected microbial examination. main investigated PH, total dissolved solid, Total Hardness, Calcium, Chloride, Nitrate, viable count load. Chemical analysis indicated that all physical higher than Maximum acceptable level, except TDS magnesium Qasr ben Gheshir Wadi Al-Rabia regions, as well PH regions. examination revealed coliform counts 91% over maximum level Also, results showed significant difference between reservoir, pipe with p value (<0.05) where coliforms contamination more reservoir. also 50% E. coli.
